China sets BIPV record with 120 MW multi-roof solar project
The first phase of Sungrow's integrated solar (BIPV) project in Gao'an City, Jiangxi Province, China, is the largest single-capacity BIPV project in the world.

The project consists of 11 sub-units covering approximately 665,000 square meters of total rooftop space in the industrial park. The whole project adopts CITIC Bo BIPV-Zhiro solution, and the annual power generation is expected to be about 120GWh. Sungrow said the unit should be able to meet 100% of the needs of the industrial park.

Traditional rooftop PV is the easiest solution for commercial and industrial (C&I) companies to achieve their emissions reduction goals. But it pointed out that the roofs of the ceramic factories are old and mostly made of asbestos shingles, which cannot withstand traditional rooftop photovoltaic installations. Instead of installing a new roof to enable PV, the BIPV solution does both by directly replacing the old roof with a BIPV smart roof solution.

Sungrow provides inverters for 11 individual roofs. Company Vice President James Wu described the 120-megawatt plant as a "milestone" in BIPV's history.
