According to Beijing's promise, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics venues (Chongli and Beijing) will all use "green power" - renewable energy for power generation. In addition to the promised use of clean electricity in venues, the preparation of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games involves transportation, construction and other fields.

First of all, at the power generation end, Zhangjiakou has built a state-level wind power base of tens of millions of kilowatts in Zhangbei. In 2020, the installed scale of Zhangjiakou's wind power will reach 13 million kilowatts, the scale of solar panel power generation will reach 6MW solar panel, and the photothermal project will reach 1 million kilowatts. For Zhangjiakou, the pressure of realizing 100% renewable energy supply is not great.

There are also the Olympic venues mentioned earlier. According to the plan, Chongli's Olympic venues are mainly supplied by building 4-6 large-scale solar energy central heating stations of 100,000 square meters or above, in order to realize the use of renewable energy for heating all the buildings of the Olympic venues.

Secondly, the transmission terminal, in 2018, Zhangbei Renewable Energy Flexible DC Power Grid pilot demonstration project started construction, so that the wind and solar energy in Zhangjiakou area can reach Beijing directly to serve the Olympic Games. According to the Beijing Electric Power Company, Zhangbei project can inject up to 10 billion degrees of clean energy into the Beijing power grid every year, which is equivalent to one-tenth of the total electricity consumption in Beijing. In addition, according to the State Grid news in September 2018, the investment in supporting power projects for the Winter Olympic Games will continue to increase, planning to build 12 new projects of 110 kilovolts and above. The benefits of these projects will go far beyond the power supply of the Winter Olympics. They will also strongly promote the energy transformation of Beijing.
