Austria scraps its sun tax

US political parties have reached an agreement on green power support and are expected to create stable conditions for the next three years. From next year, 36 million euros will be provided each year to further support solar systems and energy storage.

The Austrian party reached an agreement before Sunday's vote, which gave Austrian solar energy a great help.

The Austrian renewable energy industry has been fiercely calling for policymakers to provide emergency solutionsfor months to ensure further expansion of clean energy.

In the upcoming rapid elections on Sunday - the fall of the ruling Austrian People's Party and the Austrian Liberal Party coalition government, and the vice-premier Heinz-Christian Strache, who was hit by the scandal, resigned The party approved the clean energy measure last week is expected to be approved by the parliament on Wednesday.

The Austrian Federal Solar Association (PVA) welcomed the agreement and expects it will help to avoid a 30% decline in the solar market next year.

The two sides agreed to allocate 36 million euros a year from next year to 2022 as part of a green power plan to fund solar and energy storage. With new funding, we are creating...100% renewable electricity, said PVA Managing Director Vera Immitzer.

Sun tax stop

The association has seen one of its other requirements, removing the "sun tax" requirement for electricity consumption from homes with roof arrays on Thursday. According to the previous regulations, solar homes can use 25 MWh of self-generated solar energy for free, but then a levy of 0.015 must be paid for every subsequent kWh during the life of the PV system.

Immitzer added: "We are very pleased to see that we are now taking action and eventually canceled the electricity bill for self-produced solar power generation."

The government set a goal of achieving a fully renewable energy generation system by 2030. The PVA calculates that this will require approximately 15 GW of solar power generation capacity. Austria currently accounts for about 10% of this amount.

BLUESUN has many Austrian customers, the most exported products are 5kw off grid solar system, 10kw on grid solar panels system, 50kw on grid solar panels system.
