Spain: Electricity tariff reform is imperative, clean energy or facing obstacles

UNEF, Spain's national solar agency, said Spain had the opportunity to clear the barriers faced by self-powered and electric vehicles through the upcoming electricity tariff reform.

Spain calls for reducing barriers to self-use and taking action to promote legislation conducive to renewable energy, thereby gradually shaking off the impact of the withdrawal from the policy of electricity tariffs on the Internet in early 2010.

During the Socialist year in power, under the leadership of Pedro Sanchez's government, Spain has set goals for a large number of solar energy projects and large-scale upgrading of the grid.

Spain is currently a non-subsidized solar hot spot. Last year, Spain abolished the so-called "solar tax" on self-use electricity. In April, Spain introduced regulations aimed at reducing the red tape of these systems.

The electricity tariff reform currently under discussion is expected to end in 2020, when the Ministry of Environmental Protection and CNMC, the market regulator, will set new tariffs for electricity use.
